"Like A Ten Seventy Five!" by Roger J Lown.
A song I wrote in both a country music version and a Rap / Hip-Hop version: “Like a Ten seventy Five!
During the last weekend in June of twenty fifteen I spent cleaning and organizing my apartment. It was designated dumpster day weekend at my condo complex. While carting items to the dumpster this rhythm is playing in my head. I wasn’t sure where this rhythm was going so I just went with it. On my second trip to the dumpster I thought about when my daughter calls and asks me to pick her up from her mom’s and spend some time together. That’s when these words came to my mind and I immediately wrote them down; like a 10-75.
A 10-75 is the fire department ten code for a three or four alarm fire, an all hands working fire. This call is usually followed by a second alarm and all available manpower. I continued working on my apartment organization. When I was finished bringing old discarded items I began cleaning and rearranging my apartment and more words were entering my mind for this song. Originally this song came to me with a rap rhythm, which surprised me because honestly I’m not into rap music. However, when I rapped the song to myself it sounded just great and I could imagine people dancing to it in a dance hall or nightclub. If I can create a rap song then maybe I can also write it in a country form as well. So I did! Here is “Like a 10-75” in country, extended country, and rap/ hip-hop version in the following pages:
