"Like A Ten Seventy Five!" by Roger J Lown.

A song I wrote in both a country music version and a Rap / Hip-Hop version: “Like a Ten seventy Five!

During the last weekend in June of twenty fifteen I spent cleaning and organizing my apartment.  It was designated dumpster day weekend at my condo complex. While carting items to the dumpster this rhythm is playing in my head. I wasn’t sure where this rhythm was going so I just went with it. On my second trip to the dumpster I thought about when my daughter calls and asks me to pick her up from her mom’s and spend some time together. That’s when these words came to my mind and I immediately wrote them down; like a 10-75.
A 10-75 is the fire department ten code for a three or four alarm fire, an all hands working fire. This call is usually followed by a second alarm and all available manpower. I continued working on my apartment organization. When I was finished bringing old discarded items I began cleaning and rearranging my apartment and more words were entering my mind for this song. Originally this song came to me with a rap rhythm, which surprised me because honestly I’m not into rap music. However, when I rapped the song to myself it sounded just great and I could imagine people dancing to it in a dance hall or nightclub. If I can create a rap song then maybe I can also write it in a country form as well. So I did! Here is “Like a 10-75” in country, extended country, and rap/ hip-hop version in the following pages:

You are the coach and your team is losing an important game.

Writing prompt: You are the coach and your team is losing an important game.
(Write a speech to motivate your team to a win.)

I approach the locker room where my players await my arrival and I go over the speech in my head. It is not long-winded like a sermon, it can’t be. It is not only the words, but also the way I speak to them and how I feel about what I’m conveying to my players that I’m coaching. They are warriors losing a battle and I have to charge them up with the words, tone, and emotion they need to achieve a very difficult win. They’ve lost many battles in their sport, but I believe they can win this war of games. What I say and how I say these words will be the difference between victory and defeat, heads held high and brave or heads held low in defeat. This is not a business pitch it is more intense than that. My team is preparing to play against the nations most unbeatable team. I need to affirm the mindset, the charge, in my players that we are the best team. Furthermore, we possess the inner strength, physical and mental ability to defeat the long-standing unchallenged team!

Song lyrics "Like a Ten Seventy Five" by Roger J Lown

A song I wrote in both a country music version and a Rap / Hip-Hop version.
During the last weekend in June of twenty fifteen I spent cleaning and organizing my apartment.  It was designated dumpster day weekend at my condo complex. While carting items to the dumpster this rhythm is playing in my head. I wasn’t sure where this rhythm was going so I just went with it.
